Abstract
Skin disease is a health problem to which farmers are particularly vulnerable, for farmers are occupationally exposed to many physical, chemical, and infectious agents that can cause or exacerbate dermatitis. Though this skin disease with farmers were considered as occupational disease, its real scope of incidence were not known. Grape harvesters frequently complains their dermatitis by contacts with grapevine elements especially during wrapping grape. A case is 46 years old female grape harvester. She has harvested grape during 20 years, and has complained dermatitis around face and neck with wrapping grape. Dermatitis with this grape harvester was exacerbated by contacts with grapevine elements and sunlight, therefore we concluded this dermatitis was contact allergic dermatitis or photocontact allergic dermatitis by grapevine elements, but we could not completely rule out dermatitis by pesticides. We present this report as a reminder with reference that dermatitis may be occurred to grape harvesters by grapevine elements as well as pesticides, and effective protective action will be needed. In the future it is hoped that more epidemiological studies will be conducted.
